Bing

In early 2010, Metric Lab conducted a study on a new navigation feature for Microsoft’s Bing™ for mobile app. The study sought to understand how people interact with navigation systems while driving. Studies that involve live driving can be challenging due to the risk involved with having a participant drive a vehicle while also interacting with a separate system. The study also had to be conducted on both city streets and interstate highways during busy traffic times, compounding the safety issue. Fortunately, Metric Lab had experience with this type of research having conducted similar studies for the U.S. Military.

Kodak

KodakMetric Lab performed usability testing on a new photo sharing application. Kodak was able to pinpoint specific usability issues in the interface and identify concepts that were difficult to understand. Incorporating changes that were suggested through usability testing, Kodak was able to make their interface more usable and intuitive.

Microsoft

MicrosoftMetric Lab performed a competitive benchmark evaluation to compare different versions of a television interface. Through direct comparison of the two versions, Microsoft was able to improve it’s design by combining best features from each interface.

BAE Systems

bae1Metric Lab worked as part of a team to conduct a program of discovery and human factors research to assist BAE Systems in building a winning bid sample for a wheeled armored vehicle designed to replace the HMMVW. The Valanx, selected through the Department of Defense’s Joint Light Tactical Vehicle Program, is designed to deliver the Soldier safely to the battlefield.
